HOW TO OBTAIN THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT CARD OF THE COMMUNITY OF MADRID?
It can be processed online or in person by appointment. Both the online option, as well as the appointment option, can be made through the following website: https://tarjetatransportepublico.crtm.es/
We recommend doing the procedure online, although you can also do it in the different management offices in the main stations of Madrid (Sol, Plaza de Castilla, Avenida América, Nuevos Ministerios…). The cost of the card that you would use on a monthly basis is 4 euros. If you apply online, the card will be sent to your home address. Subsequently, the card would have to be recharged month by month, although you can pay a fee per year, which would correspond to the payment of 10, instead of 12 months.
If you are under 26 years old, there is a flat rate of 20 euros that allows you to move throughout the Community of Madrid and certain areas of Guadalajara and Toledo. If you are over 26 years old, then you can choose the zones for which you want to have public transportation, ranging from A to E2. The price varies from 54.60 euros (zone A) to 131.80 euros (zones A to E2 included). As Alcalá de Henares is in zone B3, the price of the season ticket would be 82 euros. If you live in Alcalá de Henares but work in Guadalajara, the amount would be 110.60 euros. This card allows you to use all types of public transportation, whether it is the Cercanías (train), subway or urban and interurban bus lines in the affected areas.
To obtain the card, you will need to have an ID card, passport or residence permit. You need the original document and a photocopy (if you go to a physical office) or have it scanned (if you are going to do it via Internet). You will also need a recent passport-size color photograph. However, if you choose to have it taken at the management office, you can have your photo taken on the spot. Remember that this card is a personal and non-transferable document.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN ALCALÁ DE HENARES
The website I recommend would be the following: http://www.alcalanow.com/autobuses-urbanos-alcala/
Alcalá de Henares is a city where you can walk almost anywhere. However, depending on where your apartment is located and how you need to use the bus, you can see the best combinations.
Another option is to download applications such as Moovit where you will also see the time the bus will pass by the stop where you would take it.
Below, you can see some tables with the urban and interurban bus lines that pass through Alcalá de Henares.
